Dublin
Dates
THE exhibition of about 40 to 45 new paintings by Peter Curling will
Be held in one of the most beautiful Georgian houses at 82, Merrion Square,
home to W.B. Yeats at one time. This is Peter's first time to have such
a show in Dublin since his exhibition at the Jorgensen Fine Art Gallery
in 1993. He is looking forward to it immensely, both because of the variety
of. paintings and the history of the house, The large rooms on the first
floor lend themselves to the display of his mix of subjects, dramatic
horse paintings and similar landscapes of the Tipperary countryside, along
with intimate interiors, charcoal and sanguine drawings and some lovely
loose watercolours. "I have to be very careful of the walls and not
hammer nails into them. So I have had panels made on which to bang the
pictures, covered in expensive green damask- i hope I get to keep them
afterwards!"
Sell-out
show
Last year's show in London was a sell-out, 70 of the 120 paintings being
bought on the internet (many of this show's exhibits have already sold).
There was particular interest shown in his Venetian studies, a place he
has been working for the last four or five years There is a huge amount
of work involved in organising and marketing such an exhibition but it's
a challenge made for the man. He enjoys gradually building up the collection
into the composite show. "There is a great demand for Irish paintings.
People are very loyal and strongly support Irish artists," The exhibition
runs from November 9th-17th, further information and catalogues are available
by phoning (0504) 42194 or 087 2527872, Peter Curling's work can be viewed
at www.petercurling.com.
