It explores a variety of themes in different mediums. Horses still play a major role in Peter's work and with his son Sam now running a busy training yard at Skehanagh there is plenty of subject matter on his doorstep. Local landscape has also been a longstanding source of inspiration and last years hard winter showed that landscape in different tones and light. Venice has been a source of inspiration for artists for centuries and some interesting atmospheric studies are included in the exhibition. Peter made his first trip to the bullring last year and the movement, atmosphere and colour, which he found there, has led to some exciting work. Some closely observed still life's and a couple of portrait studies complete the show. This
is an interesting collection with the over-riding theme being variety.
Not only is the artist prepared to tackle lots of different subjects but
there is a striking diversity in the size of the pieces and the different
mediums and techniques employed. There are several very large canvases
and some smaller landscapes on panel. There are some very interesting
studies in watercolour, pen and ink, charcoal, pastel on a variety of
papers and surfaces which all add to the contrast in this exhibition. |
